Happy as Lazzaro

Synopsis

Following on from her Cannes Grand Prix winner The Wonder, Italian writer-director Alice Rohrwacher returns with sun-scorched, time-bending political fable of a tobacco queen and a village of sharecroppers. Shot on super 16mm and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, this is the tale of Lazzaro, a good-hearted young peasant, and Tancredi, a young nobleman cursed by his imagination, form a life-altering bond when Tancredi asks Lazzaro to help him orchestrate his own kidnapping.
